Booking.com is launching a travel incentive program in
the United States that gives money back to customers and does not require
commission payments from suppliers.
The online travel agency’s customers in the United States
who had to cancel their accommodation bookings due to COVID-19 travel
restrictions will get a 15% reward if they rebook a stay at that same property
by December 31, for travel through April.
The reward, valued at 15% of the total booking price,
is deposited in the traveler’s virtual wallet on Booking.com after checkout and
can be withdrawn to a personal credit card or used for a future booking within
12 months.

addition, Booking.com is waiving commissions on reservations made as part of
this campaign.
“All of us in travel share one common interest: for
the travel industry to survive this crisis,” says Arjan Dijk, senior vice president
and chief marketing officer at Booking.com.
“We’re working tirelessly to bring business back to
our partners, inspire travelers and reward them for supporting local businesses
so that, when the time is right, we can continue to make it easier for everyone
to experience the world.”
For now the offer is just for bookings within the
United States, but the company says it plans to open it up to international
bookings in the future.
