For years, online travel has been built around the search box: destination, dates, filters, results and comparison. But as travelers become more comfortable telling technology what they want in natural language, that model is starting to look less aligned with how people actually think about trips.
Travel is often emotional and outcome-driven. People may know the kind of experience they want before they know the destination, exact dates or supplier.
Artificial intelligence (AI) can help close that gap, but planning is only the first layer. The harder challenge is turning intent into bookable, fulfilled travel across suppliers, pricing, margins, operations and post-booking changes. That requires infrastructure built for travel’s complexity, not just better trip inspiration.
In a conversation in the PhocusWire studio at Phocuswright Europe 2026, Erez Bousso, founder and CEO of Move, spoke to Phocuswright senior vice president of content Mitra Sorrells about intent-based travel commerce, the limits of traditional search, agentic booking infrastructure and why trust will still matter as AI changes how trips are bought.
