Weeks after shutting down its self-service APIs portal, Amadeus said it is working with Anthropic to help developers
access its content within artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled development
environments.
The partnership with Anthropic also aims to help travel
retailers by ensuring its solutions are “closer to the AI-powered workflows
they use every day,” the company said in a blog post.
Luc Viguié, director of strategic
partnerships for Amadeus, said AI developments were an opportunity to “rethink
how travel technology, content and services can be accessed and used in more
AI-native workflows.”
Amadeus confirmed plans to shut down the self-service APIs portal earlier this year but said it would be maintaining its Enterprise
portal. At the time, travel industry observers called the company out for gating access as AI agents were gaining traction in travel planning and booking.
In Amadeus' latest blog post, Viguié said that
developers are changing how they work “using agentic coding tools such as
Claude Code to describe what they want to build and to help write, test and
assemble applications.”
He added that the distribution technology specialist is
seeking to make connectivity, documentation and content available through a
single toolkit for AI-enabled development workspaces.
The company also said it is providing a Claude Cowork plugin
for travel sellers to access selected applications.
“The objective is to go beyond surfacing data, enabling
users to access information, conduct research, draft content, analyze data and
take action across Amadeus systems in plain language, within broader AI-powered
workflows,” the post said.
