City experience platform Fever has raised $20 million in Series C funding, as it looks to expand the business into new cities in Europe and North America.
The round brings the total invested in the U.K.-based company to almost $40 million, with existing investors Accel Partners and 14W Ventures returning.
The investment was led by Atresmedia and Labtech.
Fever is primarily aimed at domestic audiences in the cities in which it operates, such as London, New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Ibiza and Madrid.
It curates experiences within each destination and then uses social media to push "hot" products over a given week, such as new restaurants, bars, events, tours, exhibitions and other experiences.
But due to its growing presence in other cities, Fever expects its loyal base of users to pick up the same service when they travel overseas to one of the destinations that it has launched in.
Data-mining
The special sauce behind its success, the company claims, is the "distribution power" it has achieved by collecting information on its users and targeting them with relevant products.
The Secret Media Network element of the business is currently used by 12 million users a week in its key markets of London, New York, Paris and Madrid.
CEO Ignacio Bachiller tells PhocusWire: “As we launch across more markets globally, we expect Fever to be used by individuals when they travel as well as in their home city.
"In each new market we operate in, our app helps travellers experience a new city as locals do."
