Flight-sharing platform Wingly has raised €3 million in a bid to boost further growth of the business.
The France-based company will use the funds to expand into the commercial aviation market as well as accelerate growth of its service, which enables consumers to share the cost of a flight with a private pilot.
Innovacom Fund, a specialist in digital innovation investments, led the round.
Wingly has launched its Pro service enabling smaller, commercial aviation players to advertise their flights on its platform.
It is also enabling operators, with U.K. Civil Aviation Authority certificates, to post flights with spare seats on the platform.
Wingly has also obtained a Europe-wide travel agency license.
Emeric de Waziers, co-founder and CEO of the company, says: “The launch of Wingly Pro this summer will extend our vision and make Wingly the largest collaborative community for private aviation.”
He adds that 20,000 private pilots are now registered on the platform for flight-sharing services.
As part of the launch of Pro, Wingly is also planning features such as "flight request," enabling users to post the type of flight they are looking for on the platform.
This latest funding comes on top of a €2 million seed round announced in May 2018.
