Navan has acquired BoomPop, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered event planning platform, for an undisclosed amount.
Michael Sindicich, president of Navan, said the company partnered with BoomPop a few months ago to offer customers wider online event planning capabilities.
With positive early feedback on the partnership, Navan decided to get BoomPop on board to build its “entire online AI-first meeting and events platform in the Navan platform,” he said, adding that meetings and events make up about 30% of all business travel.
BoomPop, which secured funding of $25 million in late 2025, was named Travel Innovator of the Year at the Launch event during The Phocuswright Conference.
Sindicich was speaking to PhocusWire as Navan reported second quarter fiscal year 2027 earnings, with total revenue up 25% year over year to $233 million and gross booking volume up 45% year over year to $3 billion.
Loss from operations in Q2 was $26 million, up from a $12 million loss year over year. Net loss was $29 million, an improvement on the net loss of $39 million in Q2 of fiscal year 2026.
The business travel and expense platform has unveiled a number of AI initiatives in recent months, including Navan Edge, a travel assistant for frequent traveler at companies with no managed travel program. In May it unveiled Book with AI on its core platform.
Speaking during Navan’s investor call, co-founder and chief executive Ariel Cohen described AI as “an opportunity for structural gross margins expansion and greater operating leverage.”
He added that in addition to its model context protocol, which provides access to travel expense, booking and policy data in ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot, the company is adding agent capabilities in Gemini and Slack.
Sindicich said that while the majority of traveler still book through “forms and tables,” it wants to be “everywhere.”
“We think we need to be agile enough to be able to integrate into whatever interface someone like to get their work done in. Eventually, I hope it translates into text messages and WhatsApp.”
