Wifi on flights is becoming a bit like air it seems as two-thirds of US passengers say it influences their flight selection and almost a quarter have paid more for a flight offering the connectivity.
These are among findings in the latest Honeywell Wireless Connectivity survey which shows more than half of respondents will trade another convenience or even go through the pain of security twice (45%), if they have access to wifi that's as fast as at home
This is the second survey from Honeywell with last year's study showing 'greater than ever' demand for inflight wifi as well as some of the elements passengers would be willing to sacrifice.
Additional findings reveal that almost 20% have switched from a preferred airline because another carrier offers a better wifi service and 37% say they would be upset if they didn't have wifi access on their next flight.
When it comes to inconveniences they would trade off to access wifi as fast as at home, 34% would be prepared to show up three hours before boarding and 29% would swap their ticket and go on standby if the plane had speedy wifi.
Travellers were also asked what they wanted wifi for with 39% using it for personal or general news, almost 20% to plan their next holiday and 9% to pretend they are in the office while on holiday.
Here's the infographic plotting the latest findings as well as a video clip from the company.

The survey was conducted by Kelton in June on more than 1,000 US travellers who have used wifi on board a flight in the past 12 months.
