WeTravel, a technology
specialist for multi-day travel, has acquired Tourwriter, a system for targeting
bespoke travel designers, for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition
follows Series C funding of $92 million announced by WeTravel just
under a year ago.
The U.S.-based company said acquiring Tourwriter would
deepen both companies' focus on “creating tooling for
custom travel, where operators design each trip for an individual client rather
than selling seats on a scheduled departure.”
It added that WeTravel already serves scheduled-departure
and custom operators in the Americas and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa and expanded into the Asia Pacific market, where Tourwriter is based, last year.
Tourwriter said it not only brings its software to the deal but
also its customer base “built entirely for companies that focus only on bespoke
experiences.”
The companies will
continue to operate as separate platforms. Glenn Campbell will continue to lead
Tourwriter, with the team of nearly 30 remaining in New Zealand, London and
around the world. The Tourwriter team will join WeTravel’s 400 global employees across four
offices in Australia, Azerbaijan, the Netherlands and the U.S.
"We're excited to partner with
Glenn and invest in the Tourwriter platform, putting WeTravel's engineering,
product and payments infrastructure behind it, starting with our extensive
global payment options and AI tooling,” said Ted Clements, CEO of WeTravel.
"Tourwriter brings 23 years of expertise in the hardest
corner of this industry, along with the same belief that an operator's day
should be easier. That combination is rare, and we believe it makes this a
great first acquisition," said Jason Brooke, principal at Sapphire
Ventures, the lead investor in WeTravel's Series C round.
Data from WeTravel revealed that more than half of operators
saw increased interest on custom luxury bookings in 2025 compared to 2024. The
company’s booking data also revealed its custom and luxury travel organizers saw
bookings increase 16% and dollar volume rise 31% year over year in the first
half of 2026, compared to the same time period in 2025.
"This is an
exciting next chapter in Tourwriter's 23 years," Campbell said. "We are committed to continuing to support
the luxury travel sector with tools to help them increase their profitability
and better serve their customers."
