Fintech provider Revolut has entered a payments partnership with Booking.com. The collaboration will give the online travel agency's customers the option to pay with Revolut's one-click checkout solution, Revolut Pay.
"Given our customers' passion for travel and the millions of users on Booking.com, this partnership is a natural fit for us,” said Alex Codina, general manager of acquiring at Revolut. “Integrating Revolut Pay means a faster, more secure and ultimately more rewarding checkout experience for users."
Travelers can select Revolut Pay when paying for Booking.com accommodations, and they are then taken to the Revlout app to complete payment. In addition to a streamlined booking process, the companies said customers benefit from Revolut's "built-in biometric security." While the payment option is available for accommodations at the onset, the companies said the payment option will be expanded to flights and cars.
Travelers who opt to pay using Revolut Pay will receive RevPoints for each purchase as part of the pan-European debit loyalty card program. Points can be used at merchants that offer checkout with Revolut Pay, including Booking.com.
JC Rodriguez, senior director of commercial fintech at Booking.com, said the company wants to make it easier for people to experience the world.
“Introducing innovative new solutions to make transacting on our platform fast, secure and flexible for all customers is key to that goal. With Revolut’s strong growth in key European markets, this partnership was a natural fit,” Rodriguez said.
Booking.com will continue to work with Revolut to explore additional strategic opportunities, he said.
Revolut entered the travel industry with Expedia-powered Stays in 2021, adding vacation rentals in 2022. Earlier this year, Revolut made headlines when it acquired Swifty, an artificial intelligence-powered travel agent with roots in Lufthansa Innovation Hub.
