If the promise of pent-up demand is delivered over the course of the next few months, how can airlines optimise commercial operations to deliver a sharper recovery?
It's a tough question to answer given there is no historical precedent for an entire sector to base its assumptions on.
But airlines and their partners have to consider numerous options as they attempt to get aircraft back in the skies and put passengers onboard.
These may range from adopting "flexible and agile" approaches with operations to testing what works and quickly moving on if it doesn't.
Last week's World Aviation Festival web event asked a group of aviation execs to explain what they're doing to address what is likely to be the most important and critical moment in their histories.
The panel consisted of the following and was hosted by PhocusWire's Kevin May:
- Sophie Dekkers, chief commercial officer, EasyJet
- Pieter Bootsma, chief revenue officer, KLM
- Markus Elk, vice president of global sales, SAS
- Silvia Mosquera, chief commercial officer, Avianca
- David Gunnarsson, CEO, Dohop
- Chris Phillips, global head of sales and revenue, ATPCO
