Obviously, airline passengers just want to get to their destination as cheaply as possible, on-time and - hopefully - arrived rested.
Yet part of that so-called passenger experience is now also focused on what an aircraft's in-flight entertainment can offer, with most airlines trying to out-do one another for the most high-tech and comprehensive in terms of content.
Emirates being Emirates has decided to go one step further and add some technology to something that ordinarily wouldn't require any enhanced digital experience whatsoever: amenity kits.
The Middle East-based airline has teamed up with tech provider Blippar to add some virtual reality to its collection of eye masks, earplugs, toothbrush and socks, as part of a wider overhaul of it amenity kits.
So what would a passenger do with one of these "interactive kit bags"?
Simply, using the Blippar app on a smartphone, passengers will be "unlock a world of entertainment" when they scan the bag.
Once the contents of the bag (six different designs, depending on the destination) are scanned the app opens up various pages on the Emirates app that contains activities and health tips for passengers, as well as "soothing playlists" of music.
The kits are available on selected long-haul routes and on all the network's "ultra long-haul" services by August this year.
Whatever next, one might ask...
