The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development has released its latest data on access to mobile data subscriptions globally.
This breakdown offers a quick understanding of the global landscape of mobile data, which sheds light on what countries are primed for fully immersive apps that take advantage of mobile data - and which countries are still struggling to deliver an always-on data connection via mobile.

Overall, wireless subscriptions were up 14.6% in the 34-country cohort, bringing the measured total to 910 million wireless broadband data subscriptions. This means there are three subscriptions for every four inhabitants, a penetration rate of 74.2%.
The findings show that seven countries clock in at over 100% - meaning that there are more data subscriptions than there are people. Those countries are Finland, Australia, Japan, Sweden, Denmark, Korea and the United States.
Given that not everyone in these seven countries has equal access to technology, this means that there are people who maintain multiple wireless subscriptions - perhaps one for a work phone and another at home.
