Migrating to the cloud can improve operational efficiency while also enhancing traveler experiences, according to Tedd Evers, global partner leader of travel and hospitality for Amazon Web Services (AWS).
It also offers cost-savings, as companies can avoid paying for data centers and instead adjust based on demand, Evers said during a PhocusWire studio interview at The Phocuswright Conference.
However, the benefits go beyond that.
“It’s more about unleashing the ability to and the freedom to invent, we like to say,” Evers said.
He used the Amazon Bedrock product as an example, which allows customers to experiment with different large language models before committing to one and deploying.
“People have found out you don’t necessarily need generative AI for everything. A lot of the use cases might be able to be solved with traditional, shall we say, AI or machine learning,” Evers said.
“The ability to have that flexibility so that you’re just using the right model for the right use case, that’s where you can not only save money but also invent and understand what might be the best application.”
It's not just the big-name brands that stand to benefit from cloud services, either.
“All of those AWS services that are used by our largest customers can also be used by a startup or an individual that’s just playing around and trying to iterate on a concept,” Evers said.
“We’ve got startup partners like NLX that does voice AI, but they work with very large customers like United Airlines, for example, so, again, the underlying commonality there is that they’re leveraging AWS, and it is a democratizing feature of being able to innovate and have the tools to do so.”
Evers also addressed the most innovative AI use cases, how cloud will empower future innovation and more.
