TripAdvisor wants to get to the heart of football fans descending on Brazil this summer - striking a deal with Telefonica in what it says is its largest mobile deal to date.
Although the agreement with the carrier is to cover 18 markets globally, covering 323 million mobile customers, around 220 million of Telefonica's users are based in Latin America - a prime market for football-obsessed fans gearing up for the tournament kicking off in June this year.
Central to the agreement will be the integration of TripAdvisor services into a new travel application provided by Telefonica to customers, giving them access to reviews for hotels, restaurants and attractions.
Crucially, all content on the app will be available to use offline.
In time for the World Cup in Brazil, TripAdvisor will be publishing new city guides for ten cities in the country to cater for the thousands of fans expected to be criss-crossing the country as they follow their respective national teams during the 32-side tournament.
As part of the agreement, back on the main TripAdvisor website the mobile operator will be sponsored the existing City Guides in 18 different markets around the world.
TripAdvisor says it will be launching Spanish, German and Portuguese versions of the guides later in 2014.
Other mobile agreements TripAdvisor has in place include Microsoft and Samsung.
TripAdvisor also recently signed a deal with Brazilian airport operator Infraero to feature an application which includes nearby points of interest and things-to-do to local airports.
