Uber Technologies plans to become the largest facilitator of autonomous vehicles (AV) trips globally, it said in its fourth quarter and full-year 2025 earnings report.
CEO Dara Khosrowshahi described the company as being on a “clear path” to achieve the goal.
“We are more convinced than ever that AVs will unlock a multitrillion-dollar opportunity for Uber Technologies, Inc.,” Khosrowshahi said in prepared remarks.
“AVs amplify the fundamental strength of our platform: global scale, deep demand density, sophisticated marketplace technology and decades of on-the-ground experience matching riders, drivers and vehicles all in real time.”
Uber has announced a string of partnerships with AV technology specialists and vehicle manufacturers in recent months. In January, the company confirmed on-road robotaxi tests with Lucid and Nuro. A month prior, Uber and Lyft announced plans to launch robotaxis in London.
And in October 2025, the company announced a partnership with WeRide to launch robotaxis in Saudi Arabia.
The mobility player reported a 22% increase to 3.8 billion in trips in the quarter alongside an 18% increase in monthly active platform consumers year over year.
Gross bookings in Q4 increased 22% to $54 billion year over year, and revenue was up 20% to $14 billion versus the same period in 2024.
“Uber accelerated into another record-breaking quarter, with more than 200 million monthly users completing more than 40 million trips every day—our largest and most engaged consumer base ever,” said Khosrowshahi.
He also said that 2025 was the company's fifth consecutive year of more than 20% annual gross bookings growth.
“Very few companies are able to generate this much growth at this scale, and we’re proud of the
execution and innovation that has gotten us to this point,” he said. “Yet despite our size, we are still in the
early stages of customer acquisition, which continues to be the primary contributor to our growth.”
Commenting on generative artificial intelligence (AI) in prepared remarks, Khosrowshahi said the company is piloting first-party agents including an AI assistant for drivers and several consumer facing AI agents. He added that Uber is also partnering with AI platforms to "expand discovery and reach new customers."
The company has launched an integration with ChatGPT for rides which enables users to "discover services within the LLM experience before completing checkout in Uber’s apps."
The company also said current CFO Prashanth Mahendra-Rajah is departing after three years in the role. He will be replaced by Balaji Krishnamurthy, who has been with the company for about six years.
Uber is anticipating gross bookings for Q1 2026 of $52 billion to $53.5 billion, an increase of 17% year over year.
