Amazon has announced that Expedia is one of four new companies building artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities for its Alexa+ assistant that will launch in 2026. Amazon first announced Alexa+, its next-generation AI assistant, in March with partners including Tripadvisor and Uber.
With the integration of Expedia's lodging inventory, users will be able to ask Alexa+ to suggest, compare, book and manage hotel and vacation rental bookings around the globe. The assistant can personalize results based on room price, type and location.
Yelp, Angi and Square will also launch integrations with Alexa+ in 2026.
“We understand that a truly useful personal assistant needs to connect with services that customers rely on every day,” said Daniel Rausch, vice president of Alexa and Echo. “Every new integration we add brings Alexa+ closer to handling more of life’s everyday tasks, changing how customers interact, discover and book services. We can't wait for customers to experience these new capabilities and are excited to continue adding even more.”
Expedia's move to integrate with Alexa+ is the latest in its efforts to explore AI potential and pursue implementation.
The company named its first chief AI and data officer earlier this month, and in November, Google named Expedia as a partner on its upcoming agentic travel booking capabilities.
In October, when OpenAI brought apps into ChatGPT, Expedia was also named a partner. That same month, Expedia partnered with Perplexity on the launch of its AI browser, Comet.
