Uber has formed a 'strategic partnership' with India's Times Internet to help grow its presence in the destination.
A statement from Uber describes the deal as a marketing partnership and adds that it entails a small investment from Times Internet.
Times Internet, the digital arm of media group the Times of India, set up Times Global Partners to support international digital companies wanting to establish a presence in India.
The partnership with Uber is said to be Times Global Partners largest so far.
Uber says India is its 'second largest and fastest growing market' and that the deal is in line with its strategy of local partnerships. Similar deals have already been formed with American Express in the US and Baidu in China to help increase marketing and distribution of Uber's services.
The statement says that Times Internet has a reach of more than 200 million through its various print and digital channels.
Uber is already in 11 cities across India including Bangalore, New Delhi and Hyderabad.
The company recently announced a tie-up with the Paytm, India's dominant digital payments platform.
Also competing for customers on the India taxi-hailing circuit is Ola which acquired TaxiForSure for $200 million a few weeks ago.
