SEOs from across industries recently gathered in San Francisco to discuss personalized search results, Google data collection, and how the Internet of Things will develop into a direct lead generation tool for in-store retail.
These insights come from Airbnb's Head of SEO Dennis Goedegebuure, who works to ensure that the right listing gets in front of the right person at the right time.
The direct response model as the end-result of the Internet of Things means that the offline experience is enhanced via the online experience. This means that lead generation becomes an actual physical conversion via various interconnected devices.
Direct download of apps also comes up in the conversation, which emphasizes how native apps are gaining more mindshare by US consumers.
This conversation and thought process on how SEO can lead to higher conversions and more app downloads is an interesting corollary to the recent news that Google is penalizing those who rely excessively on low-qaulity guest blogging.
SEO is still so important to lead generation for businesses, but is also a very fragile and ever-shifting landscape.
