Two crowdfunding campaigns have propelled United Kingdom-based travel app LuckyTrip to attain an additional £1.5 million ($2 million) in funding.
The startup company raised £1 million from 1,879 investors on the crowdfunding website Crowdcube, surpassing the original target of £200,000.
Over 15% equity was offered to investors on a pre-money company valuation of £5.9 million.
On the crowdfunding website Syndicate Room, more than £500,000 was raised in a campaign where the average investment was £9,400.
LuckyTrip previously raised over £800,000 in seed round funding from Brent Hoberman through Founders Factory and other private investors.
Founded in 2015 by brothers Tiff and Alex Burns, LuckyTrip is aimed at helping millennial tourists find low-cost flights, handpicked accommodations and unique travel experiences with a few taps on a mobile device.

Skyscanner, Booking.com, easyJet and British Airways are among the travel brands that partner with the startup.
The LuckyTrip app has been downloaded more than 500,000 times and won the ‘App Store Best of the Year’ award by Apple.
