Developers in the Republic of Ireland are getting their first chance to participate in an open travel hackathon over the weekend of May 9-10 2015.
The latest stop on the Tnooz THack roadshow will take place at the NDRC in Dublin.
THack @ Dublin is open to individual developers and teams of up to 5 members who will compete on-site for at least Euro 7,000 in cash and other prizes.
The event brings together up to 100 developers and leading travel and travel tech companies for a creative competition that seeks solutions to these four travel challenges:
- Inspiration, discovery, memories – Create an application that helps travelers decide where to go and how to share their experiences and journeys.
- Local concierge – Make a product that explores options for tours, activities and services in-destination.
- Accommodation finder – Hotel? Hostel? Back-country camping? Home-sharing? Build a recommendation engine for personalized accommodations.
- Route planner – Create an travel application for transportation choices that are time-efficient, cost-effective or creatively scenic ... or all of the above.
Tnooz's Tier 1 sponsoring companies (including
Skyscanner, TUI's
Hotelbeds and others to be announced) will provide access to their proprietary APIs to use in programming solutions to one or more of the four challenges.
Sponsors will open their APIs to registered developers approximately one week before the event, plus provide on-site or online support for their APIs.
33entrepreneurs, an accelerator in France that mentors travel, food and wine startups, will offer advisory services on-site at NRDC and a week of mentoring and Euro 500 travel expenses at its headquarters in Bordeaux to one winning THack team.
Developers also are welcome to use any open API, public database or other freely accessible information in coding their projects.
THack @ Dublin is FREE to developers and teams.
