Canary Technologies has acquired mobile key company OpenKey for an undisclosed amount.
The hotel guest management company said acquiring OpenKey builds on its existing mobile key platform and increases coverage to include more door lock models and manufacturers.
“The acquisition expands our mobile key offerings to be the most comprehensive on the market,” said Harman Singh Narula, co-founder and CEO of Canary.
“We’re investing in this technology to help hoteliers meet guests’ rising expectations for mobile-first guest room access. Together, we’re accelerating the transition to frictionless arrivals and a delightful hotel stay with our extensive solution set.”
OpenKey CEO Stephen Bodnar also shared excitement about the acquisition.
“This allows our customers to benefit from Canary’s end-to-end suite of solutions and modernize the entire guest journey,” Bodnar said.
Founded in 2014 and based in Dallas, OpenKey also offers mobile check-in software, allowing guests to verify their ID and skip the front desk.
In December, Canary expanded its partnership with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts by rolling out Canary’s AI Voice technology to Wyndham franchisees. Last June, the platform confirmed it had raised $80 million in Series D funding to expand its AI capabilities.
