Mark Okerstrom took over as CEO of Expedia Group two years ago, triggering a number of strategic moves in the interim.
Notable developments include the investment in Vrbo and the distribution deal for whole rates with Marriott.
Challenges have emerged since his appointment, too, especially in the business's dependence on search to drive traffic.
During an interview at the Phocuswright Conference in Florida last month, Okerstrom discusses both the developments and the recent headwinds.
He talks about the group’s three-pronged strategy of being more customer centric, locally relevant on a global scale and unleashing the power of the platform.
Okerstrom is also quizzed about its strategy for Asia, with the CEO saying he’s keeping an eye on trends such as the emergence of so-called Super Apps.
Initiatives around workplace diversity and inclusion - issues he has talked openly about since he took over Dara Khosrowshahi - were also on the agenda.
