Travel metasearch service Kayak released an upgraded version of its iPhone mobile application today, including a car service feature and overhauled user experience.
The new outing (version 17!) has done away with the existing tile-based navigation in favour of what it calls "feature lists" covering searches for flights, hotels, etc.
The car service tie-in (Limo pick-ups, etc) comes as part of a partnership with Groundlink.
Other enhancements include tweaking the booking service it launched last year so users can also receive search results via email or call the airline directly from the handset.
Languages supported by the app have increased to include German, French, Italian and Spanish. Upgraded versions of its Android and Blackberry apps are expected to follow.
Clearly mobile has become a major part of Kayak's strategy, with the company claiming five million download since it launched its first mobile application in 2009.
But the release of the new mobile application comes the same week as Kayak closed its California branch and confirmed a number of job losses within the company, including VP of emails and deals, Brian Harniman.
