Two leading ground transportation brands in China and the US have been joined by cohorts in India and South East Asia to bolster the Rides Everywhere group.
The alliance was created in September this year as a rearguard action against Uber and its rapid expansion around the world.
Founder members were Chinese giant Didi Kuaidi and Lyft, and now Ola in India and GrabTaxi, a powerful player in many countries around SE Asia such as Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, have joined in the fun.
The idea is that the companies collaborate on technology, market knowledge and resources so that travellers can use each of the services when overseas by having the same interface and experience they would normally get in their home country's application.
The only players that now remain outside of the group could arguably be Hailo in Europe and EasyTaxi in South America.
GrabTaxi trousered $350 million in funding in August this year, whilst Ola took a Series F round to the tune of $500 million in November.
The four companies collectively have raised more than $7 billion in capital, just short of the $8.21 billion that has filled the coffers at Uber.
Ola claims to have around a million booking requests each day. GrabTaxi says it is running 1.5 million bookings across six countries every 24 hours, including requests for moto-taxis, deliveries and private cars.
Didi Kuaidi CEO, Cheng Wei, says the addition of Ola and GrabTaxi is a "win for the diversity and vitality of the global rideshare industry".
