To help expedite traveler movement through airports, Amadeus Ventures has invested in analytics software company CrowdVision.
The London-based CrowdVision uses computer vision software and artificial intelligence to monitor passenger flow in airports in real time.
Its people-tracking technology produces live data that airports can use to addresses issues around efficiency, ultimately helping airports control traveler volume, which IATA predicts will nearly double from 3.8 billion in 2016 to 7.2 billion by 2035.

For travelers, the technology helps cut down on wait times at check-in and in security lines, thus freeing them up to spend more time in retail areas.
“Together with CrowdVision, we will be able to help airports to better anticipate and respond to traveler flows for better real-time, planning and investment decisions,” says Suzanna Chiu, head of ventures at Amadeus.
“We’re committed to helping airports improve their operations and performance, because when airports run smoothly, everyone benefits: Airports can get more value out of their retail areas, more flights can take off on time and travelers enjoy better journeys.”
Amadeus Ventures, the corporate venture arm of Amadeus that launched in 2014, has invested in startups such as Situm, Avuxi, BookingPal, Flyr and Yapta. The terms of the CrowdVision investment were not disclosed.
