Hilton has launched a beta version of its generative artificial intelligence (AI)-powered trip planner to help travelers find hotels.
Formally called the “Hilton AI Planner,” the tool uses conversational intelligence throughout the planning phase. Travelers can use natural language to explore Hilton’s global portfolio of hotels, compare properties and learn more about amenities, Hilton said. Example searches include questions about family-friendly beach vacations for the summer and ski resorts near Hilton hotels.
The tool is initially being rolled out to “a small pool of site traffic on Hilton.com” and will later expand to more users.
“The launch of the Hilton AI Planner marks another step forward in our journey to reimagine the travel experience for Hilton guests,” said Michael Leidinger, SVP and CIO at Hilton.
“This is just the beginning and a preview of where we’re going, as we continue to focus on providing thoughtful, purposeful innovation that empowers travelers.”
Hilton's move is the latest in a series of AI-related initiatives from hotel chains.
Marriott International also plans to deploy natural language search across its website and the Bonvoy mobile app this year, CEO Anthony Capuano said during the company’s fourth quarter and full-year earnings call last month. The hotel giant is also collaborating with Google to facilitate bookings through an AI model travel product, as well as OpenAI on its ChatGPT ad pilot program in the U.S.
IHG partnered with Google on AI trip-planning capabilities as well. During its earnings call last month, the company called this capability a “key step in moving toward a more conversational search experience” on IHG websites and apps.
