Two and a half years after arriving on the scene as a place to manage frequent flyer services, GoMiles has been acquired by social travel and trip planning provider Traxo.
Financials involved in the deal between Seattle-based GoMiles and Traxo from Texas were not disclosed.
Users of the GoMiles service will be migrated over to the Traxo platform allowing them to begin using its trip organising tools immediately.
The acquisition coincides with the launch of a new service called, Traxo Express Access, giving users the ability to link their loyalty accounts with a single log-in to manage their various point programmes.
GoMiles was originally launched by CEO Michael Komarnitsky and Marc Kamaka. Komarnitsky will be moving to Traxo as part of the acquisition but Kamaka left GoMiles in March this year and now works at Seattle-based Giant Thinkwell, provider of the Haiku Deck service.
A year into operations, GoMiles admitted that attracting users to the service had been slower than expected and work was needed to broaden the site's capability alongside frequent flyer management tools.
This came about by way of adding services such as protection and redemption of points for the user.
Komarnitsky, who will become head of strategy and marketing at Traxo, says:

"Traxo's trip-organization capabilities are unmatched in the industry, and GoMiles users will be able to leverage these features to take more control of their trips and their frequent flyer miles."
