Almost a year to the day since the Apple iPad hit the marketplace, trip management service TripIt has finally unveiled a dedicated application for the device.
TripIt says at around the time of the iPad's launch, just 9% of TripIt members had snapped up a device. But a recently survey by the company found that a massive 70% of TripIt members now own an iPad, or at least plan to purchase one in the near future.
Much of the existing TripIt smartphone app functionality is included in the iPad version, except engineers have inevitably made significant use of the larger screen.
A user's itinerary is now plotted as a single navigation thread, with maps and other relevant details included on the same screen.
Other features include a master map of an entire trip, maps for airports and hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues, seat assignments and airport terminal information.
The release of the iPad app comes three months after TripIt sold to Concur in a $82 million cash plus stock deal. The company recently claimed over 300 uses of its API in various applications on the web and mobile.
