Thursday 12 September 2013:
- Travelport renews distribution agreement with Jet Airways. The multi-year agreement sees the carrier and its subsidiary Jet Lite push its published fares and route information to agents connected via the Travelport GDS platforms. The two carriers operate some 550 daily flight to 72 destinations in India and internationally.
Tuesday 10 September 2013:- Amadeus overhauls leadership in Asia-Pacific. Angel Gallego will become president APAC for the company, replacing David Brett who is stepping down after 13 years in various leadership roles in the region. Gallego was previously vice president in Western Europe, Middle East and Africa after moving up through the ranks following his appointment as director for Latin America in 2000. Prior to that, he worked for AMEX in a number of marketing positions.
- SNCF, the French railway, has acquired a 100% stake in 123enVoiture, a ride-sharing marketplace that boasts 400,000 members, reports Le Echo. The company previously took an interest in OuiCar, which has a similar size platform.
Wednesday 4 September 2013:- Sabre appoints ex-Continental CEO Larry Kellner as new chairman. Kellner joins as part of the recent restructuring which saw Sam Gilliland step down as CEO and chairman and Tom Klein taking on the CEO position. He spent 14 years at Continental, firstly as chief financial officer, president, chief operating officer and, finally, chairman and CEO. Kellner is currently president of Emerald Creek Group and is also a board member for Boeing, Chubb Corporation and Marriott International.
Monday 2 September 2013:- Travelport agrees Rapid Reprice deal with Olympic Air. Agents connected to Worldspan, Galileo or Apollo will now be able to recalculate fares on the Greek carrier as well as establish the correct service rules, taxes, refunds and additional charges before booking a ticket. Other carriers featured on the service include Icelandair, Finnair and Swiss International Airlines.
