Sabre plans to test technology with agents enables them to research, compare and book hotels via a map-based interface.
The global distribution system has partnered with travel technology company ZoomAndGo which created the map-based platform.
The technology is designed to bring fragmented content to one place allowing agents to compare rates from Sabre and other sources for a property.
It also enables them to filter for any agency or corporate negotiated rates to ensure policy compliance and supplier deals are met.
Searches can be done by street address, neighbourhood, airport code and local attractions while results can be filtered against a number of criteria including chain, price or amenity.
In a statement, Sabre Travel Network's vice president of supplier merchandising Shelly Terry says the agreement also gives hotels more ways to merchandise their products.
The platform will also be integrated with Sabre Red Workspace existing hotel shopping and booking capabilities.
All of the GDS have demonstrated a desire to do more on the hotel distribution side with most recently Amadeus snapping up Newmarket International for $500 million.
Travelport meanwhile has been steadily expanding its Rooms and More leisure accommodation platform launched following its acquisition of travel search engine Sprice in 2010.
