Amadeus will include airline information such as amenities, cabin services and seat provision to travel agencies after inking a deal with Routehappy.
The integration of Routehappy's carrier information will take place over the course of this year and will feature within the existing Amadeus platform for travel agencies.
This will include both the Amadeus Selling Platform Connect and to online travel agencies via the Amadeus Web Services tool.
The latter is being handled by way of a redistribution agreement for airline content - billed as a first for Routehappy.
Existing airline content made available via carriers on the Amadeus platform, such as merchandising information, will continue to be available to intermediaries.
GDS landscape
The Amadeus agreement is the second such deal for Routehappy with a global distribution system.
It signed a partnership with Sabre in September 2016 to include airline content into the Sabre Red platform used by travel agents.
The third arm of the GDS world, Travelport, has forged its own path so far and has the Rich Content and Branding tool as part of its Merchandising Platform.
Similar to Routehappy, it includes details and media content from airlines to illustrate different types of services and amenities for each carrier. More than 200 carriers currently supply content through the tool.
Senior vice president of travel channels at Amadeus, Decius Valmorbida, says: "Photos, videos and descriptors help drive conversion and differentiation for airlines, but also mean agents can deliver a more comprehensive service and experience to their customers.
"Travelers are seeking enhanced ways to compare travel provider offers and we believe rich content helps to meet this need."
