Today, Marriott has begun to lend virtual reality (VR) headsets at two of its hotels: the New York Marriott Marquis and the London Marriott Park Lane.
According to an exclusive at Fortune.com, the program is dubbed “VRoom Service”. The hotel chain lends guests a Samsung Gear VR headset that contain three full 360 3D videos of travelers in Chile, Rwanda, and Beijing. The films were made by Framestore's Virtual Reality Studio.
The company's goal is to give a more positive association for its brand with millennials, who thought the brand was boring.
Fortune got an exclusive advanced look at the technology and the content.
For its earlier marketing stunts, the company has tried Oculus Rift devices. It's somewhat notable it went for the Samsung for these user tests.
Starwood had previously hinted it might soon hand out Samsun Gear VR headsets, too.
