Lime says it wants to encourage people to "get back outside, get around their cities and safely return to social gathering" with the launch of Lime Tours.
The new service offers riders places to visit as well as riding routes, aimed at both locals and tourists by providing tour routes and points of interest.
Lime Tours will be available within the existing app for the e-scooter brand and initially in the cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Riders are encourage to stop and patronize parts of a destination, such as landmarks, restaurants and cafes - all of which are set out as routes within the app.
The company says: "With tourism still recovering from the worst of COVID-19, our goal is to help our riders get outside and find new or unexplored places in cities whether it’s where they live or in town as a tourist. There’s no better way (or currently, safer way) to see a city than by scooter or bike."
It also claims that a study by Emory University found that an estimated $13.8 million in additional sales was created at 370 food and beverage outlets in four cities with e-scooter availability over six months in 2019, compared to a similar sample without mobility services.
