Mytaxi, the European taxi app majority owned by Daimler Group, has completed the rebrand of Hailo in the UK following last year's acquisition.
As part of the transition, Hailo users will be redirected to the Mytaxi app and will get some new features as part of the change - they can select and prioritise their "favourite driver" while the "share journey" feature allows them to share their location and estimated time of arrival with friends.
Hailo, as was, uses licensed black cab drivers who will also now shift to a dedicated app for Mytaxi drivers.
Mytaxi announced plans to take over Hailo last July. Hailo shareholders now own 35% of Mytaxi with the balance owned by Daimler Group. Hailo's CEO at the time of the takeover, Andrew Pinnington, is now CEO of Mytaxi.
He said:

"Our focus is on combining knowledge of what our customers need with real-time data to help our passengers move freely within the cities we service. We look to work in harmony with our drivers, and the cities and countries in which we operate to facilitate better movement in challenging and congested urban environments”.
Mytaxi was set up in 2009 and claims to have been the world's first taxi app. Daimler Group took over the business in 2014.
As well as the UK and Ireland, where the rebrand from Hailo took place earlier this month, it now operates in Germany, Austria, Poland, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Sweden.
Last month it bought Taxibeat in Greece and will rebrand it as Mytaxi over the course of the year.
