Tripadvisor Group and Airbnb have partnered to bring a selection of Tripadvisor experiences to the Airbnb platform.
Certain tours, activities and attractions will be available to book on Airbnb later this year.
The companies did not specify how many of Tripadvisor's roughly 425,000 global experiences would be available. PhocusWire reached out to the companies for more information.
“Experiences are at the heart of great travel,” said Kristin Dorsett, GM of Experiences at Tripadvisor Group.
“Helping travelers discover and book the world's best things to do is our focus, and we're proud to partner with Airbnb to bring the world's best things to do to more travelers.”
The partnership announcement follows statements made by Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky on the company’s second quarter earnings call last week.
Chesky highlighted the expansion of Experiences and plans to scale the business via its incremental “one, to ten, to many” strategy.
“We added 1,000 new experiences across our most in-demand categories, increasing supply by nearly 80% year over year during Q2. While experiences are still a small part of our business, bookings accelerated both year over year and actually sequentially from last quarter,” he said.
When asked about the size and scale of Experiences and whether they are contributing to overall nights and seats booked, Chesky said they’re growing quickly but “on a small base.” Both the Services and Experiences verticals are “on a multiyear time horizon,” behind homes and hotels.
“They’re going to be a bit smaller. We are very optimistic about this. We’re seeing a lot of growth. The way I’m measuring the growth of Experiences is, I’m not looking at the global growth rate, although it’s great,” Chesky said.
Similar to its approach with the core homes business, Airbnb is focused on growth rates in specific markets, like Paris, and expanding from there.
“We focused the core business on New York City, then we brought it to many markets,” Chesky said.
“‘One, to 10, to many’ is tried and true, and we are on the 10s of markets, where we’re seeing quite high growth,” Chesky told analysts.
“Experiences will grow very [quickly] when we take that and industrialize it to thousands of markets, and that’s not this year.”
Airbnb reintroduced its revamped Experiences vertical alongside Services as part of its 2025 Summer Release. Last November, the company stated that nearly half of experiences bookings were not connected to Airbnb accommodations bookings.
At the 2026 Summer Release in May, Airbnb also discussed plans to introduce exclusive experiences and add those from content creators.
“The other thing we’ve seen with creators is they get a lot of local demand. Most experiences get travelers, but if you’re a fan of something, you’re going to book in your own city, so creators are also a gateway to local demand for experiences,” Chesky said during a media roundtable as the 2026 Summer Release.
Several partnerships with Tripadvisor-owned experiences marketplace Viator have also been announced, with Viator recently becoming Google's first connected app for travel experiences in Gemini and Gemini Spark.
In April, Frontier Airlines partnered with Viator to offer activities on excursions on FlyFrontier.com. Uber also added Viator content in November 2022, while Booking.com introduced Viator experiences in April 2021.
