Perhaps an early milestone for the Everbread search system with confirmation that it has signed an agreement with European web technology provider Ypsilon.
Everbread's Haystack flight engine will be available from May 2010 to all Ypsilon customers using its existing flightPro, XLM Pro and AgentWeb platforms.
The product will available as an alternative to - or work with - existing flight fares and availability switches provided by Global Distribution Systems for Ypsilon clients.
Although channel-neutral, the Haystack system from Everbread is looking increasingly targeted at intermediaries - agents or metas - that wish to plug into the existing GDS for segment incentives when booking but want a different system for search.
Nevertheless the deal puts the Haystack B2B platform squarely up against other flight data providers and follows six months of testing through the Ypsilon systems.
Tapping into data from ATCPO, OAG and IATA, Haystack says it can "construct and validate" itineraries completely outside of the GDSs.
Everbread chief technology officer Ashley Raiteri says:

"It's no secret that when you start from scratch, you build upon the work of history. Without the burden of 50 years worth of legacy code and hardware investment, we've been able to radically re‐imagine the way a travel search system can function.
"Haystack's advanced algorithms and unique hardware architecture, paired with Ypsilon’s experience, offer a whole new world of opportunities for Ypsilon’s customers.”
