If you search for an airline ticket on Orbitz.com these days and don't book anything, rest assured that an email may soon be in the mail.
I conducted a JFK to Dallas flight search on Orbitz.com awhile ago, didn't book the fare, and sometime later in pops an email informing me that the fare has increased $70 to $462 so I should "act now -- this airfare is on the rise!"
It's clever and hands-on marketing by Orbitz, especially when the message is paired with its Orbitz Price Assurance policy, which provides refund checks if someone booked the same flight -- or hotel, for that matter -- on Orbitz for less before your trip.
And, not to be outdone, Delta Air Lines, too, is aggressive in its email marketing, urging SkyMiles members in the subject line to "Come on Back to Delta.com" and in the body of the email to "Visit delta.com for stress-free ticketing."
Delta's electronic missive, too, comes with a Best Fare Guarantee and Best Hotel Price Guarantee.
Just another day of assurances in the email marketing fast lane.
