At least one online travel agency in China has recommended customers either cancel or postpone travel to Vietnam due to the anti-China protest and unrest in Vietnam.
Ctrip, the Chinese OTA, told Tnooz that users can still book hotels and flights on Ctrip to travel to Vietnam, however, since May 18 it has been suggesting clients cancel or postpone planned trips to Vietnam.
The company has also rolled out a special "guarantee policy" to refund money for Vietnam trips (in case of cancellation) including tours and vacation packages issued via its channels.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has also issued warnings to Chinese citizens to avoid travel to Vietnam.
Zanadu.cn, China-based luxury OTA, told Tnooz that it hasn't got any bookings to Vietnam currently.
Local media reports that Spring Airlines has canceled nine tourist flights to Vietnam after 1,500 tourists wanted to cancel their trips. In addition, the airline is not receiving any booking inquiries to Vietnam, according to the report.
eLong and LY.com, China-based OTAs, have not responded to our request for comments.
