For all the talk of Blockchain-led services on the verge of disrupting the travel industry, there still seems to be very few brands putting it at the heart of what they do.
In fact, only one brand presenting as part of The Phocuswright Conference's Innovation Platform in 2017 mentioned how Blockchain would be used as part of its platform.
Germany-based Conichi clearly did something right during its pitch as it won the runner-up prize in the award for travel innovation (it had previously won the Battleground event at the Phocuswright Europe conference earlier in the year).

The company digitizes hotel procedures such as check-in and check-out, digital access and invoicing - essentially by creating standard processes for properties to use.
The Blockchain element of the service is incorporated at the transaction level, with Conichi claiming it eliminates around 2% of the hotel's fee.
