Following a successful debut at The Phocuswright Conference in November, the Women’s Leadership Initiative is coming to Amsterdam to kick off Phocuswright Europe on May 14.
The session, open to women and men, will explore what technology companies need to thrive in the future and also review Phocuswright’s Gender Parity Study 2018 data to identify the skills and attributes most needed from leaders in the travel technology, innovation and distribution space.
In particular, the session will look at women’s leadership through the lens of the European marketplace - where many countries are among the most progressive on the topic - and focus on conversations that move the industry toward implementation of initiatives and actions that enable women’s leadership.
“This topic is important to every successful business that wants to thrive into the future. Research from various sources cite that encouraging women’s leadership leads to growth, innovation, prosperity and greater productivity,” says Kimberly Newbury, Phocuswright’s vice president of sales.

“For us, innovation is at our core and influences everything we do throughout Phocuswright from research to events to daily news. If these conversations about how best to integrate women at more senior levels in travel technology organizations can accelerate the pace of innovation and strengthen businesses, then we can serve our partners, attendees and clients best when we help to make those connections through initiatives like this.”
Keeping in line with Phocuswright’s “culture of connection,” Phocuswright LeadHER mentors will also lead workshops to share what they’re doing to encourage female advancement into leadership in their own companies and throughout the industry.
“We have a group of Phocuswright LeadHER mentors who have diverse experience in implementing women’s leadership initiatives in their own companies and in the industry at large. As part of their voluntary role, they offer to connect with people interested in implementing their own initiatives for women’s leadership throughout the year,” Newbury says.
“They are an incredible group of people - men and women - who are committed to furthering the cause. They lead by example with initiatives as simple as regular internal meetings, mentorship, networks and information sharing up to formalized corporate programs and advocacy, and they are willing to share how they have achieved success in this arena.”
