Outdoor activities booking platform Checkyeti has acquired Alentour SAS, the company behind outdoor experiences marketplace Manawa, for an undisclosed amount.
The companies said the acquisition marks a step toward consolidation in Europe's outdoor experiences industry.
On LinkedIn, Checkyeti CEO Jakob Keller said the deal will also help the outdoor experiences marketplaces better support local providers and invest in technology. He added that Checkyeti and Manawa are “complementary” and “share the same long-term vision for outdoor and nature experiences in Europe.”
Alentour SAS becomes part of the Checkyeti Group as a separate company, with Manawa operating under its established brand name and leadership. The deal was supported by Banque des Territoires, which is now a shareholder of the combined group.
“What excites me most is the opportunity ahead. Outdoor and nature experiences remain one of the most fragmented segments in travel, while travelers increasingly expect seamless digital discovery and booking,” Keller wrote on LinkedIn.
“At the same time, AI is changing how people discover experiences, making specialized, high-quality and deeply integrated supply more valuable than ever.”
Founded in 2014 in Vienna, Checkyeti has a large focus on winter and summer activities across Europe, while Paris-based Alentour SAS, founded in 2021, maintains a strong position in France and other European markets via Manawa.
“Becoming part of Checkyeti gives us the scale, technology and resources to accelerate that journey and create even more value for our partners and customers. Together, we share the ambition of building Europe’s leading platform for outdoor and nature experiences,” Manawa CEO Timothée de Roux said in the release.
“At the same time, this transaction strengthens Europe’s digital sovereignty by bringing together two leading European technology platforms in a strategic and growing Market.”
During a PhocusWire studio interview at PhocusWire Europe 2025, Keller pointed to Checkyeti’s approach to outdoor experiences, which surged in popularity during the pandemic.
“People became aware of how important it is to be outside, to be in nature, to be in the world, and it’s ... important to always look at what customers want and try to put out the real content for it, the correct content for it,” he said.
“We’ll never reach a state where we’re going to say, ‘Now the product is final,’ or ‘Now everything is at the top where it should be.’ It needs to evolve constantly, and I think the reiteration of the process is what’s key.”
