China is not the only thing on Martin Herbert's "to do" list, but as general manager for Travelport in Asia Pacific it is clearly a big priority.
Most travel tech firms have a presence in China, with Herbert convinced that Travelport's time will come as the Chinese government slowly but surely starts to deregulate the travel industry, particularly the red tape around local and international tech firms working more closely together.
Ritesh Gupta, a reporter for ChinaTravelNews, talked to Herbert about the challenges in building up a presence in the current environment and how Travelport is positioning itself to be first out of the blocks when the situation changes.
