NextRetreat, a specialist in workplace team travel, has raised €600,000 in seed funding.
The company aims to help teams find the right destination, accommodation and workspace as well as arrange local services.
Tomas Bel, partner at Vision Ventures, which invested in the round, says: “We believe that the COVID crisis can accelerate opportunities for travel-tech and will strengthen the tendency towards remote teams. Merging these two factors can create a completely new market.”
NextRetreat was created in late-2017 by Martin Studencan, the founder and ex-CEO of meditech company, Stemi.
Others agree on the potential for this market. At a recent Plug and Play Tech Center event, Airbnb advisor Chip Conley commented that "digital nomads have gone mainstream."
He believes people will increasingly travel and work from some other place and be “untethered” in terms of where they live.
Slovakia-based NextRetreat says its ambition is to become the number one in co-living space for teams and the funding will help it develop the service further as well as build partnerships.
