GetYourGuide has had a busy 12 months - both internally and watching the marketplace around it evolve at an astonishing rate.
The company has a well-funded competitor in the shape of Klook trying to make in-roads on GetYourGuide's home turf of Europe, plus a former ally for post-booking listings of tours and activities (Booking.com) signaled its intention to break into the sector with an acquisition.
But the Germany-based company has been using its massive $75 million round from November 2017 to expand into new areas, such as self-branded tours.
PhocusWire caught up with Tao Tao, GetYourGuide's chief operating officer, during the recent Arival Europe 2019 event in the company's home city.
In the interview, Tao discusses the startup scene for travel brands in Europe, the changing market in tours and activities and its ambitions in branded tours and Asia.
