Fly.com has unveiled a new logo, replacing the one the flight-metasearch website launched with more than a year ago.
The Hudson Crossing blog picked up on the change.
Here's the new logo.
For comparison purposes, here's the now-retired orginal logo.
So, why the change?
What does the redesign do for Travelzoo's fledgling flight-metasearch website?
Justin Soffer, Fly.com's vice president and general manager, North America, says of the change:
"The logo is more modern, clean and simple. It doesn’t include additional graphics ... [so there is a] focus primarily on the Fly.com name. It represents what the brand represents: uncluttered, fast and easy-to-use/understand. Our goal is to simplify airfare search and our new logo embodies this."
I get the logic of the change and the new logo's simplicity.
The word "fly" in blue really stands out and emphasizes what the website is all about.
Gone is the wing-like illustration and the artsy "Y," which gives way to a more egalitarian "fly" in the new logo.
That beings said, are there any opinions out there on the redesigned logo? Does it work?
