The rise of mobile at the turn of the decade has now settled into a pattern that most travel brands have finally recognized.

But the additional opportunities that mobile presents are still examined in both terms of engagement between brands and customers, plus the ability to reach travelers with marketing when on-the-go.

Messaging is one element that is seeing rapid adoption by travel providers, not least because it allows them to interact and, perhaps most importantly, assist customers when they need it.

Facebook is one of the brands at the forefront of the instant messaging trend, whether it's through the main Facebook brand or its subsidiary WhatsApp.
