Didi Chuxing has launched a ride-hailing service targeting younger customers.
Huaxiaozhu, as the service is called, is a standalone business offering cheaper rides compared to the company’s main application.
The service has already launched in China’s Guizhou and Shandong provinces.
Rides start from $0.79 and the app also enables users to earn discount vouchers through activity such as recommending the service to friends.
Huaxiaozhu is a separate app that is not embedded in Didi.
Didi received funding of $600 million a year ago from Toyota Motor Corporation.
The company is also backed by SoftBank, which led a $500 million round earlier this year to develop Didi’s self-driving business.
