Hospitality management school Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne has released a video clip demonstrating the hotel room of the future.
The YU virtual clip is the combination of two concepts devised by winners of its Future of Hospitality contest launched last year.
The first concept is about bringing nature inside the hotel room to create a peaceful environment for the guest to stay in.
The idea is that the traveller can shut out the bustling city using augmented reality to display nature scenes on walls and/or windows. Accompanying sounds and smells would also be part of the experience.
The second idea is about maximising space so that the guests enters the hotel room and says what he/she wants to do. If it's work then the relevant furniture and equipment merges from the room floor and walls.
This is the vision for about 2033 giving the tech space plenty of time to get everything in place.
The prize for the contest was to have the concepts made into a professional video with the resulting clip below.
Other ideas submitted can be viewed here on the EHL website.
EHL released the first section of its Lausanne report on the future of hospitality in December with further elements scheduled for launch in the coming months including a section on the smart hotel.
