Carlson Wagonlit Travel has unveiled renewed partnerships with both Amadeus and Sabre.
The travel management company (TMC) says it’s “deepening its business partnership with Amadeus” and the deal will enable CWT agents to personalize services for travelers.
The TMC says the renewed deal is part of the CWT 3.0 strategy which seeks to be more efficient by optimizing processes and improve the traveler experience.
A statement regarding the new agreement partnership with Sabre talks about “accelerated innovation” and “operational simplification” as well as improving the user experience.
But conspicuous by its absence is a similar deal with Amadeus and Sabre's rival global distribution system, Travelport.

A spokesperson for CWT described the new partnerships with Amadeus and Sabre as “part of a strategic platform decision designed to simplify our operational and technical infrastructure."
But on the question of whether a similar deal is in place for the third of the large GDS players, CWT says: “We have high regard for Travelport and its capabilities. However, we are confident that the direction we have taken is the right one for our business and our customers.”
Still, CWT signed a long-term agreement with Travelport four years ago, with the spokesperson for the TMC saying this had neither expired or been terminated.
A Travelport spokesperson provided the following statement:
“We don’t comment on individual commercial arrangements. Travelport maintains a relationship with CWT and we know their customers continue to value Travelport’s differentiated content and technical capabilities”.
