Despite the devastating effects of the COVID-19
pandemic on Asia, Singapore-based RedDoorz is emerging from the crisis with its
ambitious vision intact.
Founded in 2015, the company now has 2,900 properties under five technology-first,
budget-category brands – the original, RedDoorz, plus Urbanview, SANS, Sunerra
and KoolKost, an extended stay brand.
In an interview at The Phocuswright Conference 2021,
RedDoorz founder and CEO Amit Saberwal talks with Web in Travel managing
director Yeoh Siew Hoon about his aim to grow the company into Southeast Asia’s
largest hotel management and booking platform with more than 15,000 properties.

Saberwal says the pandemic has delayed the company’s
strategy by two years but, “Our revenue profile is much better.
Every dollar
that is made on the core business, we make 50 cents on ancillaries, that was
zero pre-pandemic. Our take rate is above 20%. We are making more money on half
the room nights today.”
He also shares which technology investments have paid
off for the company, the impact of accelerated digitization among consumers and
why RedDoorz may “never go back to performance
marketing on Facebook or Google.”
